Tim Whistler hung out his own shingle on March 17, 2014, after years on someone else's truck decided him it was time to put his own name on one.
He never set out to be the biggest — just the one a Silver Spring neighborhood trusts. The name passed to the family that just moved in. The truck people recognize within ten miles of the shop. By the time we met him, he'd built something you can't manufacture on day one: a decade of goodwill, earned one honest job at a time.
This one was personal before it was strategic. Our founder had recently left military service and settled into his first home in the Silver Spring area — and the first business he'd ever acquire turned out to be a few miles down the road. Two people in transition: an owner ready for a well-earned retirement, a buyer starting a new chapter close to where his own began.
The fit ran past geography. Tim had built a trusted name and a crew that knew their work cold. What it hadn't grown into yet was the back-office strength — and room to expand into HVAC and electrical. That's exactly what Trades Mosaic brings.
The name. The number. The trucks, the crew, the service area. Through the entire first year, we kept 90% of the team — including the Service Manager and every technician. Same faces, same trucks, same standard of work.
What changed happened quietly in the background — stronger systems and shared back-office support so the team could spend even more of the day on what built this company: the customer.
